Sicily is an island that has always been aimed by peoples of every era. Its position in the center of the Mediterranean made it a strategic point of great importance. And that is why this small island has had so many rulers.
Eliana Calandra joins to our family. She is the Director of the Historical Archives of the Municipality of Palermo, of the Sicilian Ethnographic Museum “Giuseppe Pitré” and of the city library system. Paleographer, ethno-anthropologist, passionate about books and reading, author of many specialist publications. All together spreading our culture all over the world.

21 October 1783 Domenico Antonio Lo Faso Pietrasanta Duke of Serradifalco was born in Palermo. Scholar, architect, student of archeology and architecture (mostly in Sicily) he wrote several works on ancient and medieval Sicilian monuments.
Sicilian saying “A casa capi quantu voli u ‘patruni” which means that when you want to host someone, it doesn’t matter if your house is small. Whoever wants to do it will find a way. As if to say that “where there is a will, there is a way”.
